Bishop Brain

Bishop Brain of the Salfod Diocese

The Salford diocese has been blighted by numerous sexual abuse scandals but seems they have learnt little and the same practises continue 1n 2013.

In 2011 Brain, the bishop of the Salford diocese made a an apology for abuse that had occurred at St Bede's. This apology was not connected with Green. The apology was for the violent and sexual abuse carried out by Monsignor Duggan in the 1950's and 60's. Brain gave a very week and ambiguous apology saying that the church was ' deeply sorry for the pain and distress reported' Brain added that 'I am shocked and saddened by some of the complaints made by former pupils' What an odd turn of phrase by the Brain. A complaint is something you might make in a restaurant when you have received poor service again. His comments do not make it clear wether he is upset by the complaint or the abuse. Brain said the matter would be investigated by the safeguarding commission. The safeguarding commission is like any other organisation that investigates itself it is not satisfactory or transparent. .It is obvious by welcoming Green back into the community  makes a mockery of Wiggin's letter.and the churches concern for the public. This action shows that Brain who is also a trustee of St Bede's is not a man to be trusted and is clearly out of step with Pope Francis
